Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr It is quite known now that Bollywood and Kollywood have been in a nerve wrecking competition with blockbuster films on both the sides of the table round the year. A similar thing happened when two of the biggest movies hit the silver screen simultaneously in the same month, hence taking movie collection in the seventh sky. Thalaivaa of Kollywood Rajinikanth‘s blockbuster film ‘Kabali’ and Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan‘s blockbuster film ‘Sultan’ got released on July 22 and July 7, respectively. One of the best things that happened to both the films were that of the release date of Kabali; the government declared a holiday whereas Sultan‘s release was on the occasion of Eid, which is a holiday. Holidays helped a lot in revenue generation along with box office collection soaring high. Also, the holiday stuff actually became quite popular among the public making various memes, gifs, caricatures, etc. out of it. So, having both the blockbusters in hands, here we will discuss regarding the total box office collection of Kabali as well as Sultan till date, hence comparing both the films simultaneously. Kabali vs. Sultan Worldwide Box Office Collection Till Date Though it will always be in a dilemma as which film gathered the highest earning or so, the total box office collection gives us much of an idea to compare appropriately. Both the films are God in their respective line fetching oodles of love, respect, gratitude and of course revenue at the end of the show. The wise reaction from the public makes one famous and similar things happen when Salman or Rajinikanth‘s movie releases. Kabali crossed the mark of 600 crores overall thus setting a benchmark less entering the elite club wherein Sultan made a whopping revenue of 500 crores in mere 12 days breaking all the previous records set by other Hindi language films. Hence, Kabali generated revenue of Rs. 657 crores and Sultan generated revenue of Rs. 589 crores in the worldwide collection marked till date. Kabali vs. Sultan LifeTime Domestic Collection The only difference between Kabali and Sultan was its screen distribution with the same amount of popularity reigning in India. The box office collection literally howled both the industries thus sidelining every single film released later in those weeks. Rajinikanth films are seldom missed in Southern region with having few screens in North part of India too whereas Sultan screen space was limited up to North of India only. Very few people watch Hindi-language movies down South except cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, etc. So, keeping in mind, the screen distribution in India, Kabali lifetime box office collection in India has generated revenue of Rs. 399 crores wherein Sultan domestic collection to date has generated revenue of Rs. 317 crores. Kabali vs. Sultan Overseas Collection Till Date Released in almost similar countries, Kabali got its fair share in US, UK, Sri Lanka, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. On the other hand, Sultan received screen space in the US, UK, Pakistan, Bangladesh, European Countries, UAE, GCC, etc. thus boasting of ticket prices soaring high up to Rs. 5,000 (in respective currencies). People went crazy thus making all the multiplexes go house full within its opening week. For Kabali, the scene neither stopped in its second week also. Audiences continued to visit theatres just to take a glimpse of Thalaivaa, the Boss. Hence, the overseas collection of Kabali for the lifetime generated revenue of Rs. 258 crores whereas Sultan‘s box office collection in overseas for lifetime generated revenue of Rs. 262 crores. So, the verdict is crystal clear after making the righteous comparison between Kabali and Sultan. Undoubtedly, Rajinikanth’s fan following is comparatively more than Salman Khan. His celebrity status might be bigger but when thalaivaa film hit the silver screen, not only public but the entire industry, media, etc. go head-over-heels falling in love all over again with much nostalgia. Hence, our team rest the review as Rajinikanth’s Kabali has earned more closing at 600 crores and Salman Khan’s Sultan close to 500 crores.
