Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Two days back we reported that Samsung is set to release the Gear S3 in IFA 2016 conference in Berlin, Germany on September 1. Now we have got news that the release date of has been preponed to August 31. Of course, Samsung hasn’t revealed what they are about to release and have only said it’d be a smartwatch. But the invite rather heavy-handedly hints that it’ll be the Samsung Gear S3. Speaking of the invite, it features two blue watch hands. If this isn’t screaming the successor of Gear S3, then I don’t know what is. According to analysts, the smartwatch sales dipped to one-third last year. With the wearable world mostly dominated by Apple Watch, Samsung is the only one to hold firmly and improve its numbers. The Tizen-OS run Samsung Gear S2 has managed to make quite an impression in the wearable world because it offers a lot of things different. Update: The Samsung Gear S3 was launched on 31st August. And by the looks of it, they are basically twists on last year’s designs. Samsung Gear S3 Models: Gear S3 has two variants, the “Classic” which has a refined feel and the “Frontier” aimed at more active users. The Classic is built with stainless steel and has a polished silver look while the the Frontier has matte black finish, that looks pretty casual. It’ll have a resolution of 360×360 pixels and a pixel density of 302ppi.The device will run on Tizen an upgraded version of OS and will be powered by a dual-core 1GHz. The Gear S3 will very likely come packed with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. Sensors will include heart rate, accelerometer, gyroscope, altimeter, barometer sensor and ambient light. The altimeter and barometer can be used to measure the altitude when users are climbing a hill or some high ground. The device will also feature a weather indicator so as to help users keep an eye out for rough weather when they are out and about. The smartwatch will be backed by a 250mAh battery which can be used for two to three days. Samsung Gear S3 Possible Models: Following the tradition, Gear S2 is available in options – Samsung Gear S2 3G and the Gear S2 Classic. The device had a gold and silver color edition too. So there are speculations that Samsung will go further with this and launch three variants of Gear S3. It’s likely to have an ‘explorer’ edition that’ll feature more buttons, a crown, and changeable watch bands. Samsung Gear S3 Wishlist: We loved the Gear S2, but we’d like some improvement on its successor. Here’s a wishlist on what we’d like to see in the future Gear. Android Wear 2.0 Edition It’d be awesome if Samsung were to introduce an Android Wear 2.0-ready version of the Gear S3. The Gear S2’s Tizen OS is pretty good but is likely to be better. Built-in GPS The expensive edition of Samsung Gear S2 contains built-in GPS, and we knew it to be an incredible features. The helps joggers and runners know where they are heading. We hope the Gear S3 low-cost edition comes with a built-in GPS. A lot of other devices do have built-in GPS, for instance, Sony Smartwatch 3, Moto 360 Sport, and Samsung’s own Gear Fit 2. So a built-in GPS for Gear S3 can be on the table. iOS Compatibility iOS compatibility has become a necessity these days. Samsung should take a cue from devices like Moto 360 2015, Huawei Watch, LG Watch Urbane, Fossil Q Founder who work on both Android and iOS. This is only wishful thinking on our part. Samsung and Apple has a pretty nasty rivalry between them so it’s unlike for Samsung to open doors for iOS. Better & Faster Processor The Gear S2 and Samsung Gear Fit 2 share the same processor and although they are not bad, but if Gear S3 is to step-up it’s performance, it’d need a faster processor. Samsung needs to pull off some neat moves since the release of Gear S3 will soon be, threaten by the launch of Apple Watch 2 and Android Wear which is going to upgrade its chipset standard to Snapdragon Wear 2100 (it’ll enable the production of slimmer smartwatch).
