A set of rules has established by University Grants Commission (UGC) which allows students to take action against the accused. The respective body’s Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment regulations have provided solutions by making sexual harassment as gender neutral and not gender bias. Unfortunately by Law, only females can lodge FIR regarding sexual assault neglecting the fact that men might also face same situations or deal with unwanted moments on the daily basis. Particularly in public places, the crime rises with muting the victim or stay stunned even to react amid seconds. This particular step would help male students to raise their voice against ill treatments. The initiative was taken into consideration when two male students lodged FIR against their lecturer in Ramjas College. In fact, similar cases have been shown up since 2007, but the law was made after the immense pressure of sudden demand as well as decisive action as per gender-based violence against male students and employees.
