The biggest selling point of the Porsche fleet is the engine, which purrs like a leopard if treated correctly and lunges like a wildcat if treated otherwise. The 2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder is no exception either. It comes loaded with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and comes in three variations, with the most high-end one being officially designated the Spyder. The first one is a315-hp, 3.4-liter flat-six-cylinder christened ‘S’ with a 330-hp, 3.4-liter flat-six-cylinder ‘GTS’ and the375-hp, 3.8-liter flat-six-cylinder christened Spyder.To retain its naked feel,the air conditioning and audio systems are also removed, although can be added as no cost options. This is also the lightest currently available Porsche, weighing 1,315 kgs, the lighter weight achieved using aluminum doors and rear lid with a manually operated roof and unique light weight 20-inch wheels.Porsche claims that the new generation Boxster provides fuel savings of 15% over the outgoing modeland the 2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder has a maximum speed of180mph with 4.5 seconds to reach a speed of 60 mph from standing still.

The interiors have leather upholstered twin seats withM/FM/Satellite-prep with seek-scan, SiriusXM AM/FM/Satellite with seek-scan, single in-dash CD player, audio theft deterrent and a digital signal processor aptly called ‘AudioPilot’. This can control the entire car with voice commands.Steering wheel mounted audio controls with 7 speakers come standard, with a primary monitor touchscreen also featured. The new 2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder reflects the new design language from the Porsche 911, the standard classic with anew and revised engine and transmission specifications. The exterior features come complete with heated door mirrors, auto-dimming door mirrors and a new power convertible roof equipped with a convertible roof wind blocker.

The new Spyder has a base price of $82,100. Yet to be released, its base model, on which it is built, has won multiple laurels, including the prestigious Car and DriverTen Best list eleven times, from 1998 through 2003 and 2006 through 2010 and theAutomobilemagazine’s: Automobile of the Year once and All Stars Award nine times including 2010 and 2012.
