While a mob was protesting the molestation of a girl by some army personnel at Handwara, Kashmir, two youth including a budding cricketer was shot dead by open firing done by the Indian army. Due to this quite naturally the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti faced a huge protest.
The CM in reaction to the protest has said that the security personnel who attempted both the crimes will be severely punished. An enquiry will be done on the total thing and nobody will be spared. This is because incidents like these create a negative impact regarding the efforts made to settle down peace at the Heaven of Earth.
As a result the army put the incident under an enquiry and the state police has already started an investigation on the issue by registering it as a criminal case. However the protest is still on and right now has spread all over Kashmir. The echo of the protest has reached Srinagar and Pulwama districts also. Experts say that the scenario has totally taken the form of the protest to Nirbhaya incident of New Delhi. The demand of the public here is similar too. A death sentence has been demanded as a punishment of the killing.
Giving details of the incident, the police spokesman said within minutes of alleged incident of molestation by an Army man, public in large numbers gathered there and attacked the Army bunker in Handwara chowk.
The two- Mohammad Iqbal and Nayeem Qadir Bhatwere taken to the hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to death. The police regretted the death and said that actions will be taken as soon as possible.
