17 terrorists from the Al-Qaida team have been arrested by the Delhi police. 12 of them are absconding, for allegedly conspiring, recruiting Indian youths and establishing a base of terror outfit Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
Some of the accused are Mohd Asif, Zafar Masood, Mohd Abdul Rehman, Syed Anzar Shah and Abdul Sami — for alleged offences under the provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). All the 17 have been charge sheeted and for alleged offences under sections 18 (punishment for conspiracy), 18-B (punishment for recruiting of any person or persons for the terrorist act) and 20 (Punishment for being a member of terrorist gang or organisation) of the UAPA.
It is accused that all the 17 arrested were in touch with Pakistan and involved with the incidents of serial blasts in Delhi and Mumbai. Some were even involved in a conspiracy to bomb blast during Obama’s visit to India. This year while the cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai were under high threat before and after the Republic Day, some of these were involved in the possible threat.

The accused 17 were allegedly in touch with terrorists of not only Pakistan but also Iran and some other Islamic states. On the arrest, much of ammunitions were recovered from them. Now the question arises that how did the ammunitions reach these people? Who were supplying these to them? The CBI will get involved into the matter and very soon they will interrogate these people to gain more information on these issues. The CBI will also seek information regarding the future plans that were going on.
